The Little Boat I Never Finished
George · For my granddaughter and her father Fictional narrator · 2 min read
My granddaughter found the toy boat in a trunk and asked why it had no sail. Her father, standing behind her, already knew.
I had started it for him when he was eight. We worked on Saturdays until my business grew busy. Then there was always a delivery, a repair, a reason to leave early. I promised we would finish it next weekend so often that he stopped bringing me the box.

I remembered those years as hard work for my family. That was true. It was not the whole truth. I had also liked being needed at work, where problems had clear answers and people thanked me for solving them.
When the boat came out of the trunk, I almost said we could finish it now, as if a sail could erase thirty years. Instead I told my son I remembered making him wait. He said he remembered too. We let the uncomfortable part of the conversation remain uncomfortable.
He suggested that the three of us finish it on Sunday. He brought the fabric. His daughter painted the hull a color neither of us would have chosen. I switched off my phone, although these days almost nobody calls it.
The boat tipped over on its first voyage in the park pond. We spent an hour adjusting the weight and trying again. I want that hour written down. I cannot give my son back the afternoons he lost, but I can stop treating the ones we have as if they are endlessly replaceable.
The memory behind itA childhood boat, completed by three generations.

OPTIONAL · AFTER YOUR PROJECT IS FINISHED
How revenue sharing works
After you receive your finished project, you can keep it private or discuss sharing it with a wider audience and receiving a share of any revenue it earns.
1
Choose what to share
Keep your project private, or discuss publishing your written story, your film, or both.
2
Agree before publication
Review a separate agreement and decide whether to accept it. Nothing is published without your permission.
3
Share in actual earnings
If the approved content earns revenue, you receive your agreed share, with reports and payments on the agreed schedule.
What you agree before publication
What can be published
The approved story or film, and where it may be published.
What revenue counts
The income included and any costs deducted before calculating your share.
Your percentage
Your share and a clear explanation of how it is calculated.
Reports & payments

Sharing is entirely optional. Income is not guaranteed. The writing or film fee is paid before production and is separate from any later revenue sharing.
This is only a planning preference. It will be included if you download your plan. It does not send us a request, authorize publication or create a revenue-sharing agreement.

Before you begin
Do I need to know how to write?
No. Start with your own words, a few notes or a recording. The writing service helps shape those memories into a story.
Does the AI film price include writing?
Whether story writing is included will be confirmed before payment. The complete project scope and total price will be confirmed before you pay.
How much would I earn from revenue sharing?
There is no fixed share or promised income at this stage. If you choose to discuss publishing after delivery, a separate proposal will explain the approved content and publishing channels, your percentage, the revenue included and any deductions, earnings reports and payment terms. You can decide then.
Can I book or pay now?
Not yet. You can choose a service and download your personal plan. Before booking opens, the package scope, prices and delivery terms will be confirmed.
